In an effort to boost residency and offer financial relief, Alaska is set to distribute a $1,702 stimulus payment to eligible residents through the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) program.
This initiative is key in assisting families to cope with current economic challenges and aims to provide an incentive for living in the state.
The PFD is an annual program funded by a portion of the state's oil income. This year, the payment is split into two parts: a base dividend of $1,403.83 and an additional $298.17 bonus. When combined, these amounts total $1,702.
Eligibility for the $1,702 Stimulus Payment
To qualify for this payment, residents must have lived in Alaska throughout 2024 and intend to remain in the state permanently. This requirement reflects the program's goal to encourage more Americans to consider Alaska as their home despite its challenging climate.
Additionally, eligible residents must not have spent over 180 days outside the state during the year, applied for residency elsewhere, or have any criminal convictions.
Payment Distribution Dates
The first round of applications was processed on June 18, 2025. Payments for approved applications marked as "Eligible - Unpaid" as of July 9, 2025, will be distributed on July 17, 2025.
Furthermore, payments for applications in the same status as of August 13, 2025, are scheduled for distribution on August 21, 2025.
This financial boost not only supports the citizens financially but also enhances their quality of life amidst increasing living costs.
